4. Scientific Computing Seminar

The Christian Albrechts University Kiel invites to the

4. Scientific Computing Seminar

with special emphasis on

Parameter Estimation, Optimization and Inverse Modeling in Geosciences

16.-18.06.2008, Kiel

The purpose of the workshop is to provide an opportunity to the researchers to meet and discuss on several topics on recent developments in the field of Parameter Estimation, Optimization and Inverse Modeling, in particular with applications in Geosciences. The meeting will address both theoretical (modelling, numerical analysis) and practical issues (numerical methods, implementations and applications). The focus will be put on methods which are applied or applicable in Geosciences.

Topics include besides others:

  • Parameter estimation and identification
  • Methods for solving inverse problems in geosciences
  • Optimization methods for geoscience problems
  • Model hierachies and multi-model methods in geosciences
  • Adaptive methods

The Scientific Computing Seminars take place regularly in
Kiel and have a long tradition as a follow up to the former GAMM seminars. The previous 3. Scientific Computing Seminar "Mathematical Modelling and Simulation of Geophysical Flow Problems" was held in Kiel in June 2007.

The 4. Scientific Computing Seminar is supported by:
